A new development to make you aware of (and see if you have a fix for).
Many moons ago I sent you my Insignia NS-HD01 radio and you informed me that it was the only one that you've ever seen that actually did NOT have the DOS issue on board. However, it looks like since HD radio stations have updated their audio codecs in recent times, these radios can no longer tune into HD subchannels as they don't know how to decode the audio. It will recognize that there is a signal there, but it cannot stay connected no matter how strong the signal strength is. I was looking online to see if Insignia ever released a firmware update for the units but cannot find anything on it. Also, my NS-HD02 receives the signals and locks on to them with no problems, interestingly enough. Also, so does my Zune HD. However, both the "Mighty Red" HD radio and the NS-HD01 do not. Any advice or comment would be appreciated!
I just found your site, and have an NS-HD01 with no sound. Are you still fixing these?
obihai going away some day.

Hello King Of Tweaks:
Please help!
I had a dead battery. Revived same. Now for the first time ever… “DOS”.
I don’t even get static when inserting / removing the headphones. Nothing!
Will your fix remedy this?
Please send details.
Thanks!
John

I have an Insignia NS HD-01 firmware 4.00.14 that I found from several years ago, played it a while, but now has DOS (no sound). Do you still fix these?
I want to send insignia NS-HD01 radio for audio fix -- thanks
AudioVox IHDP01A
Hi there! You made my day about 5 years ago when you told me I had one of the only NS-HD models you had ever seen without the DOS issue. However, due to use and age, the button interface is getting more and more unresponsive and, since this has really old firmware, the tuning is VERY slow. I was thinking about buying the AudioVox option, which is the only currently produced version of the NS-HD01A in that the battery can be replaced and the button interface is much better. Can I have you as the send address so you can see if it still has the DOS flaw? I remember years ago this one had the same issue. Just like last time, I am happy to pay you even if you tell me that I am good to go. Let me know! :)
I have the NS-HD01A model ... never really got it to work correctly - no sound ... the display is crisp, the tuner seems to work, but even with a 5-bar signal there is no audio ... is this the DoS problem you are able to fix? Thanks ... Marty
Hi Marty,
I believe it can be fixed; if not, I won't charge you anything. Email sent, thank you!
Sean
Can my radio be fixed? The number on back is NS-HD01.
Hi Merlene,
As long as it is a silence issue (not loud popping noise), it can be fixed. Email sent.
Thank you!
Sean
Thank you so much for offering repairs to Insignia NS HD01 models that suffer from DoS. I got mine back today and it works just like it used to! I am happy again!
You're welcome!

Hi, are you still repairing Insignia NS-HD01A radios? I have one. I have one.
Yes, I have emailed you on the details. Thanks!
I have an NS-HD01A with the DOS problem. It worked for a number of years. Are you still repairing these?
Hi Sean,
I have an NS-HD01A that has no volume, and I tried to short pin 25, but it didn't resolve it... can I send to you for repair?
Thanks!
Hi echelonff,
I have sent you an email with the address.
Thank you,

are you still fixing Insignia NS-HD01? I have 6-8 that likely all need the same fix (radios work, but no audio); cost? Discount to do several? Please send directions for mailing to you. Thanks for considering it.
Hi JC,
Normal price is $20/ea, but it'll be $80 total for 6-8 pcs.
Don't know why I did not get a notification for this message, sorry and thank you!
Sean
Sorry, I did not realize that Google made all the email disappeared, so I never get these requests for the past months!
Please submit your requests again and meanwhile I'll try to respond to old requests.
Very sorry!
My NS-HD01A went out; tried resetting it by shorting for a bit and that worked on/off, and then it started just being loud, then went mute again. Now I think it just needs a proper repair. Let me know the address and I'll ship it over. Thanks.
Good afternoon KoT,
It is Matthew again. I am thrilled that you were able to verify that my radio is among the few that do not have the manufacturing flaw that most of these radios have. I was writing you now to inquire as to whether or not it was possible to replace the original battery as its life is getting a little less than great. Please let me know if you have any suggestions! Thanks :)
Please email details about the no sound fix for NS-HD01. Thanks.
Are you still repairing these HD Radios? The most recent of my HD Radios (I think it was the last generation made) has started to lose sound. I took it apart this morning and managed to get the volume to go back up but doubt that it will stay on. Thanks!
Can you also repair an Audiovox iHD-P01A for the same issue?
